Abstract

Background: Labial adhesions or fusion is a condition of prepubertal girls and postmenopausal women. It has been rarely reported in reproductive-age women. Case presentation: In this case report, we have described a case of a 25-year-old presenting with abdominal pain and difficulty in intercourse who was found to have labial fusion on examination. She had regular cycles since menarche and typical secondary sexual characteristics. No other identifiable cause was found. She was managed surgically and was asymptomatic in a 3-week follow-up. Conclusion: Through this case report and literature review, we want to emphasize that labial fusion can occur in women of reproductive age without any identifiable risk factor. Clinical significance: Labial adhesions should be suspected in women with voiding difficulties, difficulty in sexual intercourse, and recurrent urinary tract infections, even in women without any risk factors.
